Biography Artistically structured, talented, charismatic and a musically innovative individual from the Isle of Spice, is an artiste called Jalon Olive most popularly referred to an as “Boyzie”.
This humble spirited, youthful, vivacious artiste was born on August 4, 1993 in historical parish of St. Patrick’s and has over the years progressed immensely in the music industry throughout Grenada and by extension the Caribbean, the US & the United Kingdom. His musical triumph commenced in the year 2009, when he captured the title of “The Best Young Artist of the Year” and became a semi-finalist in Grenada’s Soca Monarch Competition with his rendition called “Bess Mass”. In 2010 the artiste released his hit tune entitled "Never Tell Her Go Jouvert" which was named best Jouvert song of the year. Following this, in 2012 “Born Troublesome” captured the second (2 nd) position at the Grenada’s National Soca Monarch Competition and also won the 2012 Road March Song. In 2013 he captured two awards at the International Soca Awards; “Best New Male Artiste of the Year” and “Grenada Soca artiste of the Year”. Furthermore, he was able to earn the title of both Soca Monarch and Road March King of Grenada that same year. Following this, in 2014 he secured a 3rd place position in the Grenada Soca Monarch Competition.
Over the last three years, Boyzie has qualified for the preliminary round of the International Soca Monarch Competition in Trinidad. With his goals set clear and intentions engraved in the body of his musical production, Boyzie in 2015, 2016 and 2017 was able to successfully retain his title of The Soca Monarch King of Grenada & also obtained the prestigious title of Youngest Cultural Ambassador of Grenada. In addition to this, he has earned two well deserving titles of becoming the 2016 & 2018 O.E.C.S Soca Monarch Champion.
Propelled by his sound judgement and determination to become a legend to his island, Boyzie with all of these astounding accomplishments has now created a record in the history of the Grenada Soca Industry as becoming the first person to ever capture four national & two international titles within a five year period. Moreover, his unique, electrifying and undoubtedly contagious performances have enabled him to perform alongside some of the region’s most entertaining artistes such as the ‘Soca King’ of The World Mr. Machel Montano & other soca icons such as Crazy from Trinidad & Tobago. In the future, Boyzie is looking forward to starting his own locally made music band and engaging in more collaborations with top artistes, as he envisions himself to continue representing his country globally.
